Ferrari Fashion School is committed to building valuable partnerships with top-tier companies in the textile sector, offering students the opportunity to engage with hands-on projects that apply their skills and best prepare them for the professional world. Through collaborations with innovative companies, we promote initiatives that enable students to interact with high-quality materials, learn about new technologies, and understand the importance of sustainability in fashion design.
These projects represent a valuable opportunity for young designers, allowing them to express their creativity and test their skills in real briefs, thanks to the support of qualified partners.
The academic project “Urban and Biotic” was born in collaboration with Manteco, a leading company in the textile sector. The project will involve second-year students of the BA in Fashion Design, who will have the opportunity to develop and construct a complete outfit inspired by the men’s FW 26 collection. Students will go through the entire creative process, working on concepts and designs that reflect both their vision and Manteco’s values.
Who is Manteco?
Manteco is a Tuscan company specialized in the production of carded, regenerated, and virgin wool fabrics, with a history dating back to 1941 when Enzo Anacleto founded the company. Characterized by a strong connection to tradition and a deep commitment to sustainability, Manteco is guided by a circular economy philosophy and a scientific approach to material innovation.
The project in collab with Manteco
The “Urbano e Biotico” project, launched in collaboration with Manteco invites students to explore the relationship between modern humans and the environment through the use of wool as a central material. Wool, a symbol of versatility and sustainability, represents a meeting point between the artificial world and the need for authenticity and well-being. Students are encouraged to reflect on the contrast between contemporary urban life and the desire for reconnection with nature, demonstrating how wool—with its thermoregulatory properties and adaptability to both urban and natural contexts—can meet the needs of modern humans.
The project drives them to explore the diverse textures and qualities of wool—from smooth, lightweight surfaces to rough, voluminous ones—to create garments that combine functionality, innovation, and a unique sensory experience. Through this experimentation, designers are encouraged to develop solutions that merge technology and craftsmanship, redefining urban wear with an eco-conscious and mindful approach.
Project Details
The second-year students of the BA in Fashion Design are tasked with developing and creating a complete outfit for the FW26 men’s collection, to be presented to Manteco. The goal is to position the pieces in the medium-high or high-end market, exploring an aesthetic that bridges the urban and formal worlds. The primary material will be wool, used in various weights and combinations to create creative solutions based on an in-depth study of volume, textile manipulation, and a selected color mix.
